China is putting somewhere about 800.000 to a million Uighur Muslims in concentration camps, and they are covering up the truth by saying it is re-education centers. Most of these camps are located in Beijing and Xinjiang. They get put into these centers for practicing Islam or for example using “God” in a sentence, having an Islamic name or even having Islamic family abroad. They will spend hours in their crowded cells chanting ” There is no such thing as religion” or “All hail the Chinese state”. If the detainees disobey there is torture being used. They also have a special method to put the detainees in something called “Tiger chairs” where they will receive their punishment in  isolation.   

China claims that they are doing this to combat the threat of terrorism. Even if it would be a threat they should not be handling the situation by putting people with different beliefs in internment camps. By doing this they are creating a bad image for their country, it makes them seem as extreme communists who want their country to be the lead of everything.

In 2015 a satellite picture got taken in one of the deserts in China. The picture showed untouched property. Three years later we can clearly see some changes, it showed a highly secured area with approximately 16 guard towers. This seems really suspicious, and the weirdest part is that when BBC news wanted to take a look in these so called “re-education camps” they were stopped.

The reason why many people have not heard about this is since that China is tightly controlling what can or cannot get out in the media. People aren’t allowed to write about this. Another way they are hiding this situation is by burning the bodies to ashes instead of giving them back to their families. By doing this no one knows how many people are dying.

We think this is an inhuman act and by doing this the government shows no mercy. Leaders from all over the world should do something about it because this is not acceptable, and in fact most of them are scared of losing economical ties with China but that should not stop them from doing a good deed. We also need people to spread awareness about this and acknowledge that this is happening right now and that they need our help.
